The Day
I know, I know, I'm not updating anything substantial. Just busy, I guess. I mean, just busy procstinating as always.
Well, I've been to the Congress for the good part of the morning. We did some research for our baby thesis and you should really congratulate us (Porfie and I), for accomplishing about 2% of our thesis. It was really fun, although I admit that it was fun primarily because no mouth whatsoever was resting during the whole time.
Actually, we are not suppose to go to the Batasang Pambansa. It was not part of our thesis plan. Personally, I just want to go to the Congress because I haven't been there yet, except for some occasional rallies. Of course, there's a difference between staying outside the Batasan's gate shouting "No to UP budget cut...!" and being inside the Congress archives pretending to be a responsible student. I want to experience the latter. I succeeded. Wahahahaha! :)
Anyway, the result was insignificant. Joke. It was. We were able to find some privilege speeches about the Visiting Forces Agreement (FYI: that's our thesis' subject matter). It's a nice start for a thesis right?
You know, the more we know about the VFA the less appealing it gets. We are planning for a rightist view of the VFA. But so far, all we have are points against it. I don't know what will happened to our research. By friday this week, we will be visiting Camp Aguinaldo hoping to get the VFA some good points. Since they are the military, it is rational that it is them that benefit mostly from this agreement. Who knows, we might get some rightist standing after all.
Let's just get one thing straight. I am not pro-VFA. It is just that, there's no challenge in proving that the VFA is unconstitutional nor is it any harder to point that in one way or another, VFA tramples our sovereignity as a nation. The current Subic Bay rape case is enough to strenghten my point. According to what I've read earlier inside the Congress Archives, Congressional procedings have anticipated events like the Subic Bay Rape Case, and they are correct. We don't have jurisdiction if ever an American committed some offenses against a Filipino, etc, etc... it would be boring to discuss it here, so I will stop now.
Getting back on track, it will be more challenging to have a rightist standing regarding the VFA, but of course, we will not sugarcoat the VFA. Most probably, the good points will be limited to the different privileges that it brings to the military and the nation as a whole.
Enough of the VFA.
After the supposedly "researching", we went back to UPM and we were upset. We were upset for one reason alone (especially Edsie-chan and me)--there are no left-overs from Kuya Dave's birthday celebration. *sniff, sniff... but of course, I'm just joking. (jokes are half meant...so I better repeat it to make it whole...HELP: this involves math thingies. You know, 1/2 plus another 1/2 make a whole. hehe... :))
I know we are not suppose to explain jokes but I can't help it. I don't even know if the above statement is good enough to be categorized as a joke. Oh well...
Also, I keep on joking around saying that we plant bombs inside the Congress, so if ever, I won't be surprise if some police were to arrest me for terrorism. I hope not... :)
This is quite a long blog entry already. I have some procastinating to do, so I'll better go. My future is ahead of me... :)
